As diplomatic relations between Cuba and the United States open for the first time in decades, an iron curtain slowly rises on one of the Caribbean's most cherished islands. Although the diplomatic process is still in it's infancy, we can already see a long and fraught era of political grid lock coming to a close. At the threshold of this transition, we have the opportunity to look back on the long history of US/Cuban relations as well forward into to the future.
